Larry Kuran

Playing guitar since age 10, Larry’s first paid gig was in 1969 with school friends in Marinette, Wisconsin doing Steppenwolf and CCR covers at local dances. He majored in music performance at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, but dropped out to tour the upper midwest playing lounges, clubs, military installations and airbases with blues rock bands East West and Shangri-nade.

Larry moved to California in 1975 to expand his musical horizons and spent the next nine years playing casuals, studio work and jamming with anyone willing. He even worked with folk icon Peter Yarrow doing anti-drug youth concerts.

Relocating to Florida in the early ’80’s, Larry worked with local rock bands like Nightshift and Larry and the Jets. He went back to playing blues and soul in 1992 with Heart Attack and the Pacemakers as house band at Port Charlotte blues club Gatorz, and has also played clubs in the Sarasota area and also in Fort Myers Beach. He joined eclectic acoustic soul trio Noisy Neighbors in 1994, the house band at Cafe New Orleans on St. Armand’s Circle. Larry first joined Bandana in late 1995 after sitting in for a vacationing band member, then settled into the lead guitar spot. Larry successfully built a home studio and followed early advances in hard disk-based recording. In 2000, he started Sleeping Dogs Music as a production company for internet audio streaming, mobile digital recording and live sound providing sound reinforcement for Bandana and, most recently, for recording artist Kip Winger.

After a short departure from the group, Larry has rejoined Bandana bringing his rich guitar style and vocals back to the group.
